Premis recently completed work on the new Lavender Mother and Baby Unit Courtyard located at Gold Coast University Hospital. The facility currently provides specialist care for women who experience health difficulties in the first year following childbirth.
DPM Architects provided the design for a sensory garden courtyard that promotes recovery and well-being for both mother and baby.
The courtyard incorporates areas for quiet relaxation and group activities and exudes a feeling of calmness and familiarity. Artwork that includes an aboriginal cultural theme and a blackboard area for wall chalk art was also incorporated into the courtyard area.
The interview room was constructed to accommodate therapy, meetings and family visitation. It is fitted with acoustic privacy to reduce ambient noise and enhance privacy. The room features glass walls and sliding doors that connect to the outside garden.
Premis looks forward to working with Gold Coast University Hospital on future projects.
