The Premis team recently delivered a new student services fitout for the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Information
Technology at the University of Queensland, St. Lucia campus.
Premis worked in collaboration with Hassell Architects on the design of the space. Key elements included the Optima glazing system featuring glass pivot doors with minimal aluminum framing to create an aesthetically pleasing environment. The main entry and reception area was designed to reflect a “raw” aesthetic, with the concrete slab soffit and service conduits both remaining exposed. To maintain a raw, industrial feel grey vinyl was chosen as the flooring material to the reception area.
Custom-made screens by Luxxbox are included features in the reception and meeting rooms. These are predominately timber dowelled frames and house plantar boxes and shelves. The white-washed American Oak timber veneer joinery with contrasting black laminate adds a striking design element to the overall look and feel.
