Premis recently completed work on a new day medical Oncology unit – Mater Cancer Care Centre Redland - and expansion of the rehabilitation gym at Mater Private Hospital Redland. The project was completed under a design and construct management contract.
“It’s been a pleasure working closely with the Premis team to deliver our dedicated medical oncology space and rehabilitation gym.” – Tracey Hutley, Director of Clinical Services – Mater Private Hospital Redland.
The hospital has seen significant growth since the Oncology service was introduced in 2013. The new nine-chair centre will provide an important service to patients within the local community and fulfil increased demand. The treatment space is purpose-built to improve the patient’s experience while undergoing cancer-related treatment.
The new Oncology unit will provide care in a specialised environment freeing up space for local patients.
The refurbishment includes the expansion of Mater Private Hospital Redland’s rehabilitation gym as well as space for dedicated treatment areas and full kitchen facilities to allow patients to regain confidence to carry out everyday tasks before they go home.
The demolition of the existing suites, including the re-location of Queensland X-Ray, gave Mater Private Hospital Redland the ability to re-engineer all of the mechanical air conditioning in these areas to better suit the new configuration and design layouts.
The Premis team managed construction works whilst not disturbing the daily activities of the adjacent specialist suites by staging the work in consultation with the hospital.
The project was completed at the end of April.
