Premis Project: Brisbane Festival Environment

Earlier this year,  the Premis Team completed work on the Brisbane Festival’s new tenancy at Festival House in Fortitude Valley.  In recent years the festival has established itself as one of Brisbane’s biggest cultural events with the iconic Riverfire marking the final day of the festival.
After occupying an environment in West End for a number of years, both the business and the volume of staff outgrew the site and they relocated to their current location.

The floor plan of the new tenancy was not suitable for the business, and was reconfigured to transform the space into a more workable environment.   In line with the client brief, Premis delivered a creative, comfortable and efficient space for the Brisbane Festival team so they could get on with their job of putting together a world-class international arts festival. We examined the ways in which the team worked together as well as providing an environment that would contract and expand to suit the business; as the team grows from 12 to 90 in the lead up to the festival.

The space presented numerous challenges in its reconfiguration stage as both floors housed mezzanine areas that somehow had to be incorporated smoothly into the design layout. Premis added an operable wall to enable multi-use of space for conference meetings and break out areas.  They exposed the timber ceiling beams and left the beams untreated, creating a stark and effective juxtaposition with the otherwise clean, sleek and white interior.

The client is delighted with their new business environment, which is flexible, innovative and now provides for current and future demands.
