Premis recently completed the delivery of multiple environments at Baringa Hospital in Coffs Harbour, New South Wales.
The project involved the refurbishment of an existing operating theatre being transformed into an Endovascular Theatre and Control Room, tailored to the installation of GE and Stryker equipment. The hospital’s commercial kitchen was completely refurbished including an extension to the building to house the new cold and freezer rooms. A new structural steel Plant Deck was also installed to house the new plant and equipment required.
The refurbishment necessitated substantial structural alterations to support the existing structural members of the building, roof framing, and a new suspended concrete. Air quality and infection control were key elements for the project’s delivery. With extensive penetrations in both the existing floors and ceiling spaces, protecting the adjacent 3 active operating theatres and patient recovery areas required considerable planning and monitoring throughout the works
This complex project was delivered in three stages due to the design restrictions of the space, and remained live throughout its duration.
