Premis is in the process of delivering a 3-stage new build project at St Columba’s Primary School in Wilston. The first stage of the project has recently been completed ahead of the school holidays to allow for the safe demolition of the existing administration building while the school is unoccupied during this period.
Stage One involved the installation of new infrastructure so services could be run to allow the relocation of staff. The works encapsulated the relocation of the school’s security, data and power systems that supply the whole school as well as the provision of a new water feed and sewer. In addition to this infrastructure, the school’s new communications room has also been built. This has allowed staff to relocate to an adjacent building that will serve as the temporary administration facility until the new building is constructed.
Premis has now commenced work on Stage 2. This stage involves the construction of the school’s new administration facilities, the main feature of the development facing Kedron Brook Road and the central hub for the school. The first floor of the building houses the amenities and administration, while the second floor contains classrooms and general study areas.
Over the school holidays the demolition of the existing building was totally cleared. When staff returned from the holiday break they were pleased to see only the flat level building pad, signifying that work on the new building is moving forward. The civil works is now complete and the drainage and footing are currently underway.
The school principal and teachers are delighted with how smooth the process has gone to date and Premis continues to exceed expectations.
