In March 2017 after an extensive search for the ideal location for Premis Solutions’ new head office, the team found a stand-alone building in Mallon Street, Bowen Hills that ticked all the boxes. Within close proximity to the city and the rejuvenated RNA showgrounds precinct, the building boasted handy public transport links in addition to on-site parking.
The building itself was tired and dated, and required a slab to slab strip out of the interior, and a refresh of the exterior. The vision for the new office was to create a workspace that was not only functional, but welcoming. Taking full advantage of the natural light and outlook was also important, along with creating a happy and health environment for staff to enjoy on a daily basis.
The interior was designed to reflect a mix of modern and industrial design influences. The staff hub, located adjacent to the entry, is a key feature of the fitout. Designed as a space for staff and clients to informally meet, it becomes a hive of activity throughout the day.
As with any refurbishment project, the fitout of the Premis office was not without its challenges. Commencing the design and building process simultaneously to meet the tight timeframe, and achieving code compliance while still allowing for future growth within the workspace posed a few issues, all of which were quickly resolved.
A complete strip out was undertaken, followed by the installation of new switchboards, cabling, lighting and data throughout. A new security system was added, along with replacement mechanical ductwork and a supplementary unit for the boardroom.
New ceilings, floor finishes and custom-built workstations were installed throughout the building. A new timber veneer kitchen was fitted, with stone benchtops, black tapware and stainless steel appliances adding to the industrial/modern look of the fitout.
The end result is a purpose-built space that proudly represents what Premis stands for.
