Environmental Forensics Laboratory
Making it easy is in Premis’ DNA
Location: Griffith University, Nathan Campus
Project: N55 Environmental Forensics Laboratory
Architect: Phillips Smith Conwell
Size: 400sqm
Timing: 12 weeks
Key achievement: High levels of communication ensured a smooth construction process and services coordination to meet technical laboratory standards — while staying within a very tight budget.
Project Overview
The new laboratory fitout was constructed to meet PC2 physical containment standards, to service the faculty’s needs for forensic DNA and environmental testing facilities.
The lab is now complete with new fume cupboards, Nederman exhaust arms, gas reticulation system, and external gas storage. The works also required office and storage areas, upgrade to the facade entry, a new air-conditioning unit and minor refurbishments of neighbouring laboratory rooms.
“Good on-site staff, and regular communication from Premis, made overseeing this project relatively easy,” said Chris Kenvyn of Griffith University.
